Mason Greenwood will remain on bail over allegations he raped and assaulted a young woman.

The Manchester United footballer, 20, was arrested in January after images and videos were posted on social media.

The posts have since been deleted from the social media page.

His bail was extended beyond April 30 and the £75,000-a-week Premier League striker will remain on bail until the hearing in mid-June.

Greater Manchester Police said on Friday: “Following a hearing yesterday, a 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill on Sunday January 30 remains on bail.”

Within hours of the allegations, Manchester United announced the England international was suspended from playing or training with them.

Nike initially suspended its sponsorship deal with Greenwood before ending the deal.

Electronic Arts has confirmed his removal from active squads on FIFA 22.

In a statement, Manchester United previously said it “reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind”.
