Dartford has become the latest Kent seat to shift from Conservative to Labour as new MP Jim Dickson defeated Conservative candidate Gareth Johnson by more than 1,000 votes.

Mr Dickson won 15,392 votes, while Johnson received 14,200.

On the social media platform X, Mr Dickson said: “Massive thanks to all my friends and across London and the south east who came to help.

“It’s a massive privilege to represent the people of Dartford.”

Lee Standers of Reform UK came in third with 9,523 votes, Laura Edie of the Green Party was fourth with 3,189 votes, and Kyle Marsh of the Lib Dems placed fifth with 2,184 votes.
