Masters of the Air star Callum Turner lands next lead movie role

Masters of the Air star Callum Turner has lined up his next lead film role in A Prayer for the Dying.

Callum has signed on to star with The Promised Land duo Kristine Kujath Thorp and Gustav Lindh in the period drama set in the aftermath of the US Civil War, according to Deadline.

Filmmaker Dara Van Dusen has adapted Stewart O’Nan's novel about a group of Scandinavian settlers who travel West to a small Wisconsin town.

The lingering darkness of the war creates a hostile situation where one man must choose between saving his family or fighting for the town that has taken in his community.

Production is scheduled to begin in the early summer.

Producer Louis Balsan has said of Callum Turner's involvement: "We are thrilled to be part of this bold cinematic debut starring the immensely talented Callum Turner, helmed by the visionary Dara van Dusen. This collaboration promises an unforgettable experience for audiences worldwide."

Callum has been one of the breakout stars of Apple TV+'s stirring drama Masters of the Air about the 100th Bomb Group's strikes against the Nazi war machine during World War II.

The actor's breakout success has been particularly impressive since he shares the screen with Academy Award nominees Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan as flying aces.

Aside from A Prayer for the Dying, Callum will also be starring with Tessa Thompson in an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's Hedda Gabler for the big screen. He's also been cast opposite Search Party's Alia Shawkat in the film Atropia.

There is no release date set yet for A Prayer for the Dying.
