Matt Hancock texts: Nigel Farage hits back at 'pipsqueak' former health secretary over leaked Whatsapps

Nigel Farage has called Matt Hancock a 'pipsqueak' and attacked his conduct during the pandemic as the latest round of the former health secretary's WhatsApp messages were leaked.

Speaking on his GB News show, Farage discussed a story published by the Daily Telegraph claiming members of Hancock's team wanted to contact the Home Office after a news report suggested the ex-Ukip leader broke quarantine rules after returning from a trip to the US.

Hancock's special adviser Jamie Njoku-Goodwin replied: "Does he count as a pub hooligan? Can we lock him up?"

Hancock then said his case should be dealt with "like any other."

The Daily Telegraph has been handed thousands of WhatsApp messages belonging to Hancock from his time in office during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

They were given to the paper by journalist Isabel Oakeshott, the ghostwriter of his book, who said they were in the public interest to share.

Hancock has accused her of betrayal.

During his evening show on Wednesday Farage admitted he broke COVID lockdown laws.

He said he complied with the first one but "then I saw lockdown after lockdown, and I saw hysteria surrounding the number of times we had to get jabbed.

"Then I saw the media, earning so much money out of advertising, that there was almost no room for debate or criticism.

"And then I saw Matt Hancock standing up there, and saying things like this is an order. You must stay at home.

"Well, I thought as the month went on, to hell with you."

He went on to admit he met elderly relatives when it was against the law.

He also commented on his trip to the US and admitted he "probably hadn't quite" reached the 14-day required quarantine before he started interacting with people again.

Farage went on to say: "I have to say, you know, bad laws make people lawbreakers. So, there we are. I've fully confessed.

"If you think the worst would be for it, I'm sorry, but I just don't like tyrannical Government.

"I don't like little pipsqueaks, like Matt Hancock telling me how I should live my life.”
