Matthew Perry’s ex-fiancée Molly Hurwitz ‘hoped for long-lasting relationship with him before he threw it away’
Matthew Perry’s former fiancée Molly Hurwitz is said to have hoped for a long relationship with the actor before he “threw it away” amid claims he had messaged a teenager on celebrity dating app Raya.
The ‘Friends’ actor – found dead in the hot tub at his LA mansion aged 54 on Saturday (28.10.23) – is thought to have died single, with his last major romance being with literary manager Molly, 32, who he dated for three years before they broke off their engagement in the summer of 2021.
An insider told DailyMail.com about Molly’s grief over his shock passing: “Of course, she is heartbroken over his death. She loved him and just like anyone else would feel in her instance, wishes things would have been different.”
Matthew was seen in a video posted in May 2021 flirting with TikTok user @kittynichole – real name Kate Haralson – who insisted they matched on the membership-only dating service Raya that month.
She shared footage of herself with the caption: “When you match w Matthew Perry as a joke on a dating app and he facetimes you and plays 20 questions with you.”
The Daily Mail’s source added: “Matthew claimed he wanted this family and to be loved forever by one woman, but he had that with her until he threw it away.”
“(Molly) caught him talking to a teenage girl on a dating website and he became defensive.
“Their split was not amicable, but Molly doesn’t blame him, nor does she harbour any negative feelings.”
Matthew confirmed his and Molly’s break-up two years ago in a statement that said: “Sometimes things just don't work out and this is one of them. I wish Molly the best.”
Other insiders have told the Mail Matthew died alone and regretting his failure to make any of his high-profile relationships – which included a fling with Julia Roberts – go the distance.
They also said he narrowly pulled through a “grave” illness last winter.
