Dame Maureen Lipman has revealed she walked out of filming Celebrity Gogglebox after being asked to watch Naked Attraction.

The 75-year-old Coronation Street star joined presenter Gyles Brandreth for the new celebrity series of Channel 4's Gogglebox, which features people watching television and commenting on what they see.

Lipman said she signed up expecting the producers to be interested in her point of view, only to be horrified when she found herself confronted with full-frontal nudity in late-night dating show Naked Attraction and refused to watch.

Lipman told the Radio Times: “They’re not really interested in our opinions on what they’re giving us.

“I’d seen Gogglebox and I thought: ‘Oh, [ours] is the grown-up version, is it? I’m going to go on, and make a lot of comment now about the oeuvre and ‘I did like his first trilogy, but then I felt in some ways that perhaps over the years…’ But it’s your reaction to 12 dangling willies they want.

“They’re searching for ways to make me go: ‘Urgh!’ So I thought: ‘Well, actually, no, life is too short to watch a series of hopeless men dangle their bits and pieces in my direction. So I’m going.'”

Lipman previously told This Morning she was disappointed that all her highbrow comments were cut from the show in favour of shock value.

"I didn't realise they were just going to show us lots and lots of men's bits.

"We say really witty things and it all gets cut in favour of us going, 'Ew!' and 'What's that? Oh, I didn't realise people were growing aubergines like that!'"
