May 1—KSP POST 11 TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINTS — Kentucky State Police London Post, which provides coverage for Clay, Laurel, McCreary, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Wayne and Whitley counties, will be conducting periodic traffic safety checkpoints at approved by the Kentucky State Police Policy and Procedures Manual. LAUREL COUNTY SHERIFF'S TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINTS — Sheriff John Root is reporting that: the Laurel County Sheriff's office will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints in Laurel County. These traffic safety checkpoints will be conducted at various locations throughout Laurel County that are experiencing a high rate of traffic crashes resulting injuries or a high traffic volume in an attempt to make Laurel County roads safer for families to travel. These traffic safety checkpoints will be held from 6 p.m. May 1 through midnight on May 31. The Sheriff's office will conduct these traffic safety checkpoints coordinated by Capt. Chris Edwards.

The locations LCSO will concentrate on will include: Ky 30; Ky 770; Ky 192; Ky 80; US 25; Hal Rogers Parkway and Ky 80; I-75 at the entry/exit ramps at exit 49, exit 41 and exit 29; Ky 909; Ky 490; US 25 E; Ky 229; Ky 1956; and Ky 363.

* Many other locations have been identified and will be utilized in future traffic safety checkpoints in an attempt to make Laurel County roads safer for our families to travel.

WEDNESDAY, May 1

ROTARY CLUB OF LONDON — Will meet at Old Town Grill for their monthly board and business meeting. Board members should be there at 11 a.m.

THURSDAY, May 2

NEW LIFE WORSHIP CENTER — Will celebrate National Day of Prayer starting at 11 a.m. with a light meal of hot dogs, chips and drinks. London Mayor Randall Weddle and State Representative Tom O'dell Smith are slated to speak. Pastor Herbie Hoskins will start prayer promptly at 12 noon. NORTH LAUREL HIGH SCHOOL — Site Based Decision Making Council parent elections will be held from 12 noon until 5 p.m. at the school. Beth McDaniel and Heather Elza are the candidates running for election. If you are the parent of a student that will be attending NLHS during the 2024-2025 school year, please stop by and vote.

SATURDAY, May 4

LONDON POLICE DEPARTMENT — 2nd Annual Logan Medlock Memorial Fishing Tournament kicks off at 7 a.m. at Grove Marina on Laurel Lake. Registration is $100 per boat (no more than two per boat) and you can register by coming to the London Police Department.

WILLIAMSBURG GOSPEL BARN — An evening of gospel music with the Singing Echoes of Cleveland, TN, and Chris Perdue of Scottsville, KY. Starts at 6 p.m. Admission is free. Doors open at 5 p.m with open mic.

SUNDAY, May 5

GOOD HOPE BAPTIST CHURCH — Journey Home singers will be singing at the church on 16th Street, Corbin. Service starts at 10:30 a.m. A meal will be served after the service. For more information call 606-549-3616

THURSDAY, May 9

LEADERSHIP TRI-COUNTY — Annual Banquet at the London Community Center. Reception at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets $50.
