Mayor of Bicester marks milestone at housing development
The mayor of Bicester got hands on at a building development in the town as construction at the site nears an end.
Councillor Harry Knight took part in a ‘topping out’ ceremony at David Wilson Homes’ Hemins Place development.
Mr Knight, a former bricklayer, worked with the construction team on one of the last properties.
He placed a ceremonial brick into a property at the Heaton Road community alongside site manager Pete Walker.
Mr Knight said: "It was a real pleasure to take part in the topping out ceremony and to see this development come to its completion.
"I wish David Wilson Homes continued success in the future."
Hemins Place, which first launched at the start of 2021, has a focus on energy efficiency and ecology.
It features a range of properties, open spaces and a play area for residents to enjoy.
Dominic Harman, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: "The topping out ceremony at Hemins Place was a fantastic way to celebrate our time at the development and the hard work of everyone who has helped to make this community what it is today.
"We enjoyed the chance to welcome the mayor back to our development and provide an opportunity to turn back the clock and contribute to the bricklaying of one of the final homes here in Bicester."
