Mayor of Bicester marks milestone at housing development

The mayor of Bicester got hands on at a building development in the town as construction at the site nears an end.

Councillor Harry Knight took part in a ‘topping out’ ceremony at David Wilson Homes’ Hemins Place development.

Mr Knight, a former bricklayer, worked with the construction team on one of the last properties.

He placed a ceremonial brick into a property at the Heaton Road community alongside site manager Pete Walker.

Mr Knight said: "It was a real pleasure to take part in the topping out ceremony and to see this development come to its completion.

Hemins Place, which first launched at the start of 2021, has a focus on energy efficiency and ecology.

It features a range of properties, open spaces and a play area for residents to enjoy.

Dominic Harman, managing director at David Wilson Homes Mercia, said: "The topping out ceremony at Hemins Place was a fantastic way to celebrate our time at the development and the hard work of everyone who has helped to make this community what it is today.
