McDonald's fan orders cheeseburger with everything removed – but is sorely disappointed
When ordering a McDonald's takeaway, you can customise menu items to your desire.
Picky eaters may choose to banish their tomatoes, pickles or onions. And those who want a bit of extra protein might opt to add a second or third patty.
But when one bloke customised his order, it's likely Maccies workers had never seen anything like it. That's because he asked for a box of nothing.
Taking on X, formerly Twitter, @greg16676935420 showed followers what he'd ordered. It read: "1 x Triple Cheeseburger. No ketchup. No pickle. No diced onions. No 1/10lb beef. No mustard. No regular bun. No American cheese. No salt... Hopefully they don't mess up my order (usually they do)."
The initial price came to $5.49 (£4.32). But the service fee was $3 (£2.36), tax was $0.42 (£0.33) and Greg had tipped his delivery driver $11 (£8.65). So in total, he paid an eye-watering $19.81 (around £15.58) for a burger that was actually just pure air.
After Greg placed his order, the delivery driver was understandably baffled. They sent him a message warning that he would receive a box of nothing.
"You good with that?", they asked, and Greg responded: "Perfect thank you". Greg then joked: "Dan is on his way (thank goodness because I'm getting hungry)."
When the package finally arrived, Greg wasn't satisfied and responded with two angry emojis. He fumed: "The wrapper and…. A McCrispy box???????? I ordered a freaking triple burger, not a McCrispy. Somehow they still managed to screw up my order (not your fault Dan if you're reading this)."
Ticked off about the mismatched packaging, Greg shared that he'd given McDonald's a two star rating. But he didn't punish the deliveryman, adding: "I can't stay silent about this (don't worry I gave Dan 5 stars)"
In the comments, people were left baffled at Greg's commitment to ordering nothing from Maccies. One wrote: "$19.81 for air", followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
Another wrote: "As a dasher myself, an $11 tip (even on an order where you order something more filling) is a W [win]. Shout out to you for that. Hope McDonald's gets it right next time."
