GREENOCK-BASED McGill’s has paid tribute to serving military personnel and veterans as the country prepares to mark Armed Forces Day.

The annual event, which takes place on Saturday, offers an opportunity to show support for the Armed Forces community.

In a show of support, McGill’s offers free travel on its services every day to serving personnel.

In October last year, the bus operator pledged to support the community wherever possible by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

The company also offers free travel to veterans around special events, including Remembrance Sunday.

Alex Hornby, group managing director at McGill’s, said: “Armed Forces Day is a hugely important occasion to not only mark the contribution of our Armed Forces but to celebrate the extraordinary work they do on our behalf.

“As a company, we have many colleagues who have been in our Armed Forces and their time serving brings many advantages to our business.

“We offer free travel all year round to serving military personnel and also seek to support local, hardworking charities such as Erskine and PoppyScotland wherever possible.

“All of us at McGill’s Group would like to say thank you to serving personnel, their families, veterans and cadets who should be very proud of their association and service and we hope everyone has a memorable Armed Forces Day this weekend.”
