Fast food enthusiasts have been left gobsmacked by a swanky McDonald's housed within a stunning mansion.

The property, dating back to 1795, once served as a farmhouse for a descendant of one of the founders of Hempstead, New York. It now stands as one of the most luxurious McDonald's outlets globally.

The mansion, located in Long Island, New York, was previously used as a funeral home before its transformation into a restaurant. With shuttered windows and brick chimneys, it resembles a gingerbread house straight out of a fairy-tale.

When McDonald's took over the space in the 1980s, North Hempstead locals were adamant about preserving the historical structure of the beautiful home. The fast food giant agreed to restore it while setting up an eatery inside.

Now, the New Hyde Park spot, affectionately known as 'McMansion', features a grand staircase, posh tables and chairs, plush booths, and a glass conservatory area.

US social media influencer and editor-in-chief of Average Socialite, Sharm Sil, known on TikTok as @sharmedlife, recently offered a glimpse inside the eatery. She asked: "Have you been to the world's most beautiful McDonald's? This two-story restaurant, dubbed the 'McMansion', is a house inside a historical landmark in New Hyde Park, NY!"

Responding to the same clip on Instagram, a woman revealed she used to live in the property when it functioned as a home. She shared: "This was my childhood home in the 1950's when my grandparents owned a restaurant called Luigi's."

A different person shared: "I live so close. It's been there forever I take it for granted that a lot of people don't know about this McDonald's." Another observed: "That's really nice McD's. I love filet-o-fish and could see myself enjoying one here. Absolutely gorgeous!"

The upscale New York branch isn't alone; another exceptional McDonald's also resides in a 150-year-old mansion in Freeport, Maine. This isn't your typical fast-food restaurant - you'll find no colossal golden arches, but instead, discreet and minimalist features.
