A 'Mean Girls' Restaurant Is Coming to 2 U.S. Cities

A totally fetch restaurant is opening in Los Angeles and New York come January.

The Mean Girls Experience will give fans a chance to be a North Shore High School student for a day. Opening on Jan. 12 (the same day the new Mean Girls film releases) in Los Angeles and Jan. 19 in New York, the “fast casual” restaurant will offer “chef driven cafeteria style fare,” per a release.

The backdrop is the spitting image of the film’s cafeteria. Tables and chairs where fans sit and eat will be overlooking a replica of the stage where the iconic winter talent show took place in the movie.

The pop-up locations come from event organizer Bucket Listers. Master Chef semi-finalist Chef Becky Brown crafted the menu, which will consist of everything from Burn Book Burger Sliders, the Stab Caesar Salad and 1 3 5 Acai Bowl. Desserts are also inspired by some of the most iconic Mean Girls lines. The Kälteen Brownie, Rainbow + Smiles Cake, Is Butter a Carb? Cookies and, of course, the Fetch Strudel will also be on the menu.

Plans for the movie, directed by Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, were first announced in January 2020 by Tina Fey, who wrote both the original film and musical.

The official casting list was unveiled in December 2022, including Angourie Rice as Cady, Renée Rapp as Regina (reprising her Broadway role), Auli'i Cravalho as Janis, Jaquel Spivey as Damian, Anantika as Karen and Bebe Wood as Gretchen.

In February, Fey announced that she and Tim Meadows would step back into their movie roles as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall.

The Office alumna Jenna Fischer is playing Cady's mother, and Busy Philipps is seen in the trailer as Mrs. George (who is not a regular mom, but a cool mom). Jon Hamm also makes an appearance as Coach Carr.

In addition to Fey and Meadows reprising their respective roles as Ms. Norbury and Principal Duvall, there have been reports that the original Mean Girls cast, including Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried and Lacey Chabert could appear in the upcoming film.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight in February, Seyfried noted that she and her former costars are "100% into" making a cameo.

"It's been a long legacy for Mean Girls, and I think we all kinda just need to hang," she told the publication.
