MEET the Birchwood man who has been named as the best male photographer in the north west.

For Liam Gingell, wedding photography isn’t just a job, it is a passion.

At first, people tried to put him off the industry, warning him it ‘wasn’t there for new people’.

But this made Liam more determined than ever to succeed.

And now, he captures happy moments of newly-weds that will live on forever.

Earlier this month, Liam attended the glittering ceremony of the North West Wedding Awards.

The awards are described as ‘the region’s most prestigious event’ that recognise excellence in the wedding industry.

Here, Liam was named North West Male Photographer of the Year.

He told the Warrington Guardian: “To be just nominated for North West Male Photographer of the Year was an honour just to be recognised, but then to go on to the final 10 out of 150 other photographers I was shocked.

“Then on the night to hear my name called out as the winner just felt unreal.

“When I first looked at getting into wedding photography I met another photographer at a friend’s wedding and asked for some advice about getting into it and his response was ‘I wouldn’t bother, the business isn’t there for new people’.

“That made me push and chase what I wanted to do.

“This isn’t just a job for me, it’s my passion to capture couples happy moments that will live on forever.

“Thank to the couples who voted for me, and thank you especially to my wife and family who supported me from day one.”

The awards were organised by Country Brides and took place at the Mercure Manchester, and this year, 15,492 votes were cast with 2,549 individual companies nominated.

The event raised a huge £4,084 for Destination Florida Children’s Charity which is dedicated to giving poorly children the holiday of a lifetime.
