In February we launched a competition to find the cutest dog in Merseyside and after two months of voting ECHO readers have chosen their winner.

After 2,000 entries we created a shortlist of 10 adorable dogs for readers to vote for. And with 73 votes, Buddy has been crowned Merseyside's cutest dog.

Buddy is a two-year-old cream golden retriever who lives in Walton with his owner, Stephen.

Hellen Noble entered Buddy into the competition and told the ECHO: ''Buddy is my son Stephen's dog. They have lots of adventures together going wild camping and climbing mountains.

''He's been going on trips since he was a puppy so has learned to be so respectful of all the wildlife. He's a big softie!''

Buddy is described as a 'sweet, lovable and friendly' dog by Hellen who continued to say: ''He’s just a big goofball. He absolutely loves all his outdoor adventures but equally loves his home comforts and loves being home with his cat brother Harry.''

The photo which saw Buddy voted the cutest dog in Merseyside showed his adventurous side but Hellen sent many more images including some of his more relaxed side.

Hellen said: ''We already think Buddy is the cutest dog ever but for him to win is amazing.''
