Meghan McCain accuses “The View” of editing interview clip, but it was actually just a cut to commercial
"I want to know what happened at 7 minutes and 53 seconds that is edited out of YouTube," McCain said in a hilarious response to Megyn Kelly on social media.
Meghan McCain, Washington, D.C.'s baddest baddie and newly minted investigative mastermind, is absolutely on the case when it comes to talking about The View, despite claiming multiple times on her new podcast that she does not like to talk about The View.
The former View cohost and current Meghan McCain Has Entered the Chat media personality seemingly launched an initiative on Thursday, apparently aiming to expose her prior workplace's shady tactics over what she suggested was a calculatedly "edited" interview clip from Wednesday's broadcast of the ABC talk show.
"I want to know what happened at 7 minutes and 53 seconds that is edited out of YouTube where they cut away with The View graphic away from the conversation," McCain wrote on social media, in response to Megyn Kelly's post about the interview, in which the conservative journalist expressed glee over watching subject Coleman Hughes "calmly & expertly demolish" Sunny Hostin in an interview that got particularly heated when Hostin called him a charlatan.
Entertainment Weekly has viewed both the YouTube version of the interview (below) and a recording of Wednesday's full broadcast of The View, and can confirm that the title graphic McCain referenced in her social media post flashed on screen as a transition over cohost Whoopi Goldberg throwing the show to a commercial break.
The YouTube clip picks up where the live telecast did, as soon as the ad break was over, with Goldberg teeing up a subsequent question from Alyssa Farah Griffin.
One social media user replied to McCain's message, telling the host-turned-sleuth that, "Girl it was just a commercial break, it's alright you been on the show [you know] how it operates. Come on now."
EW has reached out to The View and a representative for McCain for comment.
Since exiting The View in 2021, McCain has regularly spoken out against the program in interviews, in essays, and on her podcast. In a December appearance on Michael Malice's Your Welcome podcast, McCain slammed the show and its current hosts.
"I just didn't know that when I signed to do this show that I have to deal with these crazy old people just yelling about me all of the time," she said. "I go whole swaths of time without thinking about them — whole months without thinking about the show or anything. Apparently, I'm just on their minds every day. And it's pathetic."
UPDATE: After publication of this article, McCain deleted her post.
