Mel B becomes UK tourism ambassador to Caribbean island of Nevis
Mel B said she was "proud and honoured" to be made UK tourism ambassador to the Caribbean island of Nevis.
The Spice Girls singer's father was born on the island, which is also famous for being the birthplace of American founding father Alexander Hamilton.

Mel becomes one of four new tourism ambassadors for the Commonwealth territory, whose job is to "showcase the island’s tourism offerings from their own unique perspective".
The 46-year-old announced her new role in an Instagram post to her 1.5 million followers, sharing a picture of her on one of the island's beaches as well as photographs of her father.
She said: "I am soooo proud and honoured that I have been made ambassador to Nevis — my dad’s homeland yipppeeeeee!!!
"It’s the most incredible island in the world and I want to help make sure EVERYONE sees just how amazingly beautiful it truly is.
"From the people, the food, the music, the setting and the feeling you have when your [sic] there, Nevis is such a special place."

Part of the Commonwealth nation Saint Kitts and Nevis, the island is home to just over 11,000 people and currently counts Monty Python star John Cleese as one of its famous residents.
Devon Liburd, chief executive of the Nevis Tourism Authority, said: “We are so proud to call Melanie a Nevisian, from her success as Spice Girl, both musically and the difference she made in society, to the wonderful work that she is doing with Women’s Aid and now she is recognised as a MBE, she is a true inspiration to us all.”
Mel B was recognised with an MBE as part of this year's New Year Honours List, noting her work in support of domestic violence survivors.

The singer has spoken out about suffering from post traumatic stress disorder in the wake of her marriage to film producer Stephen Belafonte, whom she accuses of being violent and abusive towards her.
Belafonte has denied her claims, calling them "outrageous and unfounded".
