Mel B Heads Back To The UK For Her Father's Funeral

After probably one of the toughest few weeks of her life, Mel B was spotted heading back to the UK from Los Angeles in preparation for her father’s memorial service.

Martin Brown passed away earlier this month following a five-year battle with cancer.

The former Spice Girl bought her three daughters with her for the service, which is also expected to be attended by fellow Spicer Emma Bunton as well as Kerry Katona – who is friends with Mel’s sister, Danielle.

Also expected to be in attendance are the other Spice Girls’ parents – who got to know Martin when the girls were at the height of their fame.

However, Mel’s soon-to-be-ex-husband Stephen Belafonte will not be attending the service and is expected to remain at home in LA.

The couple filed for divorce this week.

Stephen was disliked by Mel’s family and is alleged to be the reason why she’d fallen out with them in recent years.

However, her father’s passing brought the family back together – with the girls reuniting at their father’s bedside earlier this month.

A source said: “The funeral was planned to be a low-key affair, but with the family all back on good terms it looked like things would be very peaceful and sensitively done.

“It’s obviously been a very tough time after Martin’s passing – but they’re so pleased to be back together as a family.”

Mel hasn’t spoken publicly since the news of her divorce emerged, simply posting a quote to Instagram which read: ‘You Have To Be At Your Strongest When You’re Feeling At Your Weakest’.

She also took time to post a picture of the flowers and cards the family received and thanked fans for their support. She wrote:

‘Thank you for everyone’s kind gestures and words of support it really does mean a lot, if anyone wants to donate to St Gemma’s hospice in Leeds please feel free to do so they took such great care of my dad in his last few days on this earth, but I no he is in a better place now and I’m thankful phoenix and I got to hug him tell him how much we love him #restinpeacedaddy’

Sending lots of hugs to Mel and her family.
