Melton and Syston has familar face in MP seat as General Election results announced

The people of Melton and Syston have chosen their new MP. Conservative candidate Edward Argar has won the new seat for the Tories and will be the constituency’s representative in Parliament.

Mr Argar beat seven other candidates to win the vote. It was a close run, with pre-election polls swinging between a loss and narrow victory for the Conservative Party. In the end, they won with over 5,000 votes.

Melton and Syston is a new constituency, which used to be part of the former Rutland and Melton electorate. Rutland and Melton ceased to exist after the boundary change in 2024. The seat was last held by Conservative Alicia Kearns.

The Tories held onto the seat in the newly formed Melton and Syston constituency. The party secured 17,526 votes.

Labour's Zafran Khan came second with 12,130 votes and Reform UK's Pete Morris third with 8,945 votes. Turnout was 62.2 per cent.
