Meriden and Solihull East has been won by the Conservatives as the results for the area were announced in the UK General Election. Saqib Bhatti secured 16,792 votes in the seat.

Labour candidate Sarah Alan came second with 12,207 votes, leaving Saqib Bhatti with a 4,584 majority. Reform polled 8,753 votes eating into the Tory majority but not by enough to ensure a win for Labour.

Meriden and Solihull East is a new constituency after boundary changes - and pollsters had predicted a close run between Labour and the Conservatives before polling today.

Meriden was a clear win for the Conservatives last time round in 2019, where Saqib Bhatti polled nearly three times than the next challenger. The constituency takes in Bickenhill, Chelmsley Wood, Dorridge and Hockley Heath, Elmdon, Kingshurst and Fordbridge, Knowle, Meriden and Soilhill.
