Here at the Liverpool Echo we care deeply about our communities and how they are run.

That is why we believe general elections are so important. This is a chance for the people of this fantastic region to have their say on who runs the country and what that means for the place we all call home.

Thursday's election is a historic moment that we have been building up to with our coverage over the past six weeks.

We have been out to every corner of this region - and a little further than that - to speak to the people that matter, the voters, about the issues that matter most to them ahead of the all important vote.

We visited our most hotly contested electoral seat in Southport for this special report, we reported back from Liverpool, Wirral, Sefton, Knowsley, St Helens and even made it all the way to Warrington as we took the temperature around this part of the country.

Through our 5,000 Voices project we have aimed to capture as many of these views on camera as possible, giving a platform to people as we worked our way to this important moment.

And now that moment is upon us.

The Liverpool Echo will be with you all the way through the elections, with every result, response and reaction you need. If you want results first from across our region, this is the place to come.

On election night, our overnight newsdesk will be operating from our Liverpool city centre office, running a live blog, while our journalists will be dispatched to election counts all over the region.

We will have people covering counts in Liverpool, Wirral, Knowsley, Sefton, Bootle, Southport, St Helens, Widnes and Runcorn. They will have the results and reaction on the ground as soon as this comes in.

Our overnight team will also bring you all the big moments from around the country, with key seat battles and big moments as we work up towards finding out who the next government of this country will be.

Our live coverage will of course continue through the night and into Friday and the weekend, with all the drama and the key moments reported and analysed and the best local reaction around.

So please stay tuned to, follow us on twitter @LivEchoNews and on Liverpool Echo News on facebook.
