Meryl Streep is proud to call Eva Longoria family.

During the first Zoom table read for season 4 of Only Murders in the Building — which included 100 people like Selena Gomez, Zach Galifianakis and Molly Shannon — Streep introduced the Desperate Housewives alum as her cousin, Longoria recently told DuJour. The familial reference follows the revelation from Henry Louis Gates, Jr.'s 2010 docuseries Faces of America that the two are actually distant cousins.

“She tells the story and everyone’s so confused, because I’m the most Latina person in the industry and she’s Meryl Streep,” Longoria explained.

Streep, 74, and Longoria, 49, first encountered each other after the Faces of America epiphany at the AFI Life Achievement Award gala tribute for Jane Fonda in June 2014. Now, whenever the two into each other, they’ll say, “‘How are you, cousin?’ and ‘I’m good, cousin,’” according to Longoria.

Working on Only Murders in the Building was a joy for Longoria, who explained she’s “most comfortable” working in “television comedy.”

“It was the first thing I learned, so I have probably worked the 10,000 hours,” she contended. “You find confidence through that many at-bats.”

Starring with comic legends Steve Martin and Martin Short was a hoot, because “you’re never not laughing,” the actress added.

“Watching them make a lunch order is a show in itself,” she said. “It’s a constant roast about a sandwich, a 30-minute comedy about mustard.”

Longoria joins a star-studded cast for the dramedy’s fourth season, which includes, Gomez, Martin, Short, Streep, Shannon, Galifianakis, Melissa McCarthy, Da'Vine Joy Randolph, Kumail Nanjiani and Michael Cyril Creighton. It’s unclear if Jesse Williams will also return, but showrunner John Hoffman told The Hollywood Reporter in May he would “bring everyone back" if he could, adding “that might happen.”

Season 4 will see Mabel (Gomez), Charles (Martin) and Oliver (Short) “searching for answers about who killed Sazz (Jane Lynch), if they were actually aiming for Charles and why anyone would want to kill either of them,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hoffman added that the new season will explore the theme of “consequences.”

“I think the idea of what you create is a thing you put out to the world, and sometimes you can’t be prepared for the repercussions of what potentially the world does with your thing, and how they feel about it,” he also told the outlet.

“That’s a challenging line to walk, and sometimes you have to face it in that way,” he continued. “So, the podcast and everything else that’s happened, and what it all means, and what it could have been meaning all along. That’s a really interesting world to look at for these three who stepped in that way.”
