Met Office confirms when hottest day of year will hit UK as Coventry set to sizzle
The Met Office says the hottest day of the year, when temperatures in parts of the UK could hit 26C, is just days away. The May heatwave is set to hit from tomorrow with Saturday (May 11) set to see sizzling temperatures.
Andrea Bishop, spokesperson at the Met Office, said: "High pressure dominates at the moment. The temperatures will be slightly above average for the time of year and Saturday is looking like the warmest day this week, when temperatures could peak at 26C." This has led to a warning about UV levels and also those who suffer from hayfever, reports BirminghamLive.
"But we are encouraging people to take note of the pollen count and UV levels as these will both be high this week. So, if you do have hayfever, it may be unpleasant and you should take relief," the forecaster explained.

Locally, the Met Office has predicted that tomorrow (May 10) could see temperatures reach 23C across Coventry and Warwickshire. It kick-starts what will be a warm weekend.
But there is a warning that, come Monday (May 13), the temperatures are set to start to fall again. The latest local forecast, below, says that it will start to feel cooler.
Today
Once any early morning patchy mist and fog clears, it will be another fine and dry day for all of us with plenty of warm sunshine and light winds. UV levels are high, so take care when in the sun. Maximum temperature 22C.
Tonight
A dry end to the day with plenty of late evening sunshine. Remaining settled overnight with some mist and fog patches possible. Another rather mild night. Minimum temperature 10C.
Friday
High pressure continues to dominate, bringing a dry day with plenty of sunny spells, perhaps with the odd shower through the afternoon. Feeling very warm in the sunshine. Maximum temperature 23C.
Outlook for Saturday to Monday:
Remaining settled to start the weekend with warm sunny spells and the odd shower. Chance of heavy, thundery showers on Sunday before turning widely unsettled on Monday and feeling cooler.
