Met Office dates 24C heat burst in Gloucestershire - but UK thunder lies in wait
The weather has taken a turn for the better after thunder and lightning rocked bank holiday Monday. Now it's all about the sun and the rising temperatures as we head towards the weekend.
And in Gloucestershire, sun-lovers and fans of warm weather are in for a treat in a few days time. Daily average temperatures are on the rise and are set to peak at 24C in Cheltenham on Saturday (May 11).
And there will be plenty of sunny intervals to make the most of the start of the weekend. And Sunday is looking pretty good as well with highs of 23C and plenty of sunny intervals.

The summery-weather breakdown has come from the Met Office in its latest forecast which has no rain forecast until potentially late on Sunday and into Monday. All days until Monday will see daytime highs of more than 20C.
Thursday will see lots of sunshine with highs of 22C and Friday looks set to see more of the sun with mercury up to 23C. Saturday sees that 24C high and Sunday 23C before dropping back to highs of 19C on Monday and 16C on Tuesday.
Sadly, the weather across the UK looks set to change to more unsettled weather with the risk of heavy and thundery rain and showers from Monday, May 13. There could be above average levels of rainfall as temperatures drop.
Winds could also feel fresh at times. Generally, it will feel cooler than of late from the start of next week to Wednesday, May 22.

Today : Low cloud, mist and fog generally clearing inland, leaving another dry day with plenty of warm sunshine. However a chance of some low cloud lingering around some coasts for much of the day. Maximum temperature 20 °C.
Tonight : Some low cloud remains around coasts. Otherwise a dry night on offer where mist and fog may develop under clear skies. Staying mild overnight too. Minimum temperature 7 °C.
Thursday : Once any low cloud and early morning mist and fog clears, another fine and dry day is on offer with plenty of warm sunshine. Maximum temperature 21 °C.
Outlook for Friday to Sunday : High pressure continues to dominate bringing lots of dry weather. Plenty of warm sunshine with the odd shower possible by the weekend and a continued chance of fog overnight.
