Met Office issues weather warning across Cheshire with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast
The Met Office has issued weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy rain across Cheshire today (May 6).
The yellow weather warning is set to come into force at 1pm and last until 9pm. The warning covers the majority of the north of England, as well as some of North Wales and Scotland.
Forecasters have warned that thunderstorms and heavy downpours 'may cause flooding and travel disruption' this afternoon and into this evening. Heavy rain is likely to cause difficult driving conditions and may lead to some road closures.
The Met Office states: "Thunderstorms and heavy downpours are likely to break out in some places this afternoon and evening.
"Although not all places will catch these storms and downpours, where they do occur 20 to 40mm of rain may fall in some places in an hour or two.
"Consider if your location is at risk of flash flooding. If so, consider preparing a flood plan and an emergency flood kit."
