A yellow weather warning has been issued for rain. The Met Office warning for Stoke-on-Trent runs until 11pm tonight.

It comes as Stoke-on-Trent is expected to be battered by seven hours of 'heavy rain' tonight. But the threat of thunderstorms has now been removed from tomorrow's forecast.

The Met Office weather warning states: "Heavy rain may produce some flooding and transport disruption and spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and road closures. Where flooding occurs, there is a slight chance of delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

"There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings; a small chance of fast flowing or deep floodwater causing danger to life; and a small chance that some communities will become cut off by flooded roads. There is a slight chance of power cuts and the loss of other services to homes and businesses."
