A yellow thunderstorm warning is in place for parts of Leicestershire today (Sunday May 12). The warning issued by the Met Office runs from 1pm to 11pm.

It said heavy showers and thunderstorms could lead to some travel disruption in places. The towns of Lutterworth and Loughborough both have a 60 percent chance of seeing thunderstorms at around 7pm.

While Leicester is within the warning area, the government service is not forecasting any thunder for the city. However, the city is predicted to see some light rain from around 7pm to 8pm, but the risk of thunder has dropped, according to the latest Met Office forecasts.
