More wet weather is forecast for Yorkshire on Thursday (July 11), in the aftermath of the thunderstorms which hit the county earlier this week.

Yorkshire was hit by torrential downpours, lightning and thunder on Tuesday (July 9), which saw several flood warnings in place across the region.

And while rain remains in the forecast for the remainder of the week, the downpours are not set to be quite as severe, with the Met Office predicting that the showers will “gradually ease”.

The showers are set to be accompanied by brighter conditions than those seen in previous days, with West Yorkshire most likely to benefit from this. There will also be a slight decrease in temperatures, with a maximum of 17C expected across the region.

The Met Office forecast for Yorkshire on Thursday, July 11, is: “Outbreaks of mostly light rain gradually easing. Brighter spells likely develop later, especially in the west, but also isolated showers. Cool and becoming breezy near coasts. Maximum temperature 17 °C.”

The sunny spells and showers are set to continue into Friday, before cloudy conditions return at the weekend. The Met Office outlook for Yorkshire on Friday, July 11, and Saturday, July 12, is: “Sunny spells and scattered showers on Friday and Sunday, but likely cloudier with rain on Saturday. Feeling cool.”
