Met Office Yorkshire thunderstorm prediction as weather takes a turn
Thunder and heavy rain is on its way to Yorkshire as the weather takes a turn for the worse following a sunny weekend.
The Met Office has said scattered heavy showers and thunder are to be expected throughout this morning, with temperatures in the high teens. There will also be further showers this evening and for the rest of the week.
Temperatures will also be lower this week following a sunny weekend which saw temperatures in the early 20s.

For Tuesday, the Met Office said: "Cloud thickening through the morning, with scattered heavy and perhaps thundery showers. Low cloud, coastal fog and drizzle may move inland from the east coast later. Further heavy showers overnight. Maximum temperature 18C."
Meanwhile, there is expected to heavy rain throughout the week, with more cloud and wind expected. The Met Office added: "Organised heavy rain and strong winds on Wednesday. Cloudy and breezy with outbreaks of rain, mainly over high ground, Thursday and Friday. Temperatures around average or a little below."

In the longer term, showers are expected to take place through the end of the month, with possible thunderstorms on the way. The Met Office's long term forecast. for the period between May 25 and June 3, adds: "Over the bank holiday weekend a band of rain likely to arrive from the west, reaching Northern Ireland on Saturday and becoming weaker as it moves east across the rest of the UK, It is also likely to become more showery in nature with scattered showers also following.
"Into the new week, once these showers have cleared, more settled conditions more likely for most, though rain may threaten north-western areas whilst some southern or eastern areas occasionally less settled with showers which could be heavy and thundery though there will be some sunshine between them, the best of this in south-western parts. Temperatures are likely to be a little above average, but some large spatial differences are likely."
