Seized from the streets these are the ‘Fast and Furious’-style sports cars seized from cash-rich crime gangs now being used by officers to patrol city streets in Mexico.

Cops will now cruise the streets in nippy Ford Mustangs, Chevrolet Camaros, and Corvettes similar to the type of high-end sports cars used in the well-known movie series.

The vehicles were seized from organised gangs by the Public Security Forces of Guanajuato (FSPE), according to reports.

Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, the governor of the central Mexican state of Guanajuato, has added the confiscated supercars to the police force’s fleet of vehicles, according to local media.

Rodriguez Vallejo said: “The vehicles cost the people of Guanajuato nothing. They were taken from criminals and we are going to use them to do good.”

He said that the new vehicles will mainly be used to patrol the Guanajuato-Silao motorway and that 10 luxury cars in total will be in service in the coming weeks.
