New Mexico resident takes first prize after cow's plop in Duncan

Mar. 28—A bright and warm sunny day brought spectators to the Claud Gill Area to watch a new cow plop her business down in support of the arts.

The Chisholm Trail Arts Council's (CTAC) annual fundraiser brought newcomer and 10-month-old heifer, Luna, to the grid to give one lucky winner a chance to win $1,000.

For several years, The Parks Family has supported CTAC by providing a cow in the grid.

For the first time, Jake Parks, owner, escorted Luna into the pre-marked space, just prior to 1 p.m. March 23 to drop her business down at the annual fundraising event.

Luna wasted no time at all to find her spot and make her way to square #409.

Moments later, District Attorney Jason Hicks, Janice Schornick, with First Bank & Trust, and Steven Dixon, artist with Second Chance Ranch, judged the cow's first plop.

CTAC Executive Director Darcy Reeves said the winner, Kathleen DelMargo, from New Mexico, won $1,000 and Lou Baggett sold the winning ticket.

"It goes to show that anyone can win by supporting the arts," she said. "Money will go back into our programs and the CTAC Art Gallery."

Reeves said funding is always a challenge, but is always needed.

She said they sold 546 tickets for Cow Patty Bingo and raised $5,460 for their programs.

"We truly appreciate everyone who purchased a ticket for Cow Patty Bingo," she said. "It is a fun event that we look forward to hosting each year."

Money raised from Cow Patty Bingo will help with programming expenses for the arts council and other CTAC programs, such as Arts Explosion, the CTAC Live! Concert Series, Art Education in Schools and the CTAC Art Gallery.
