Michael B Jordan is eying up a reunion with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler for a secret "genre" movie.

In addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Black Panther franchise, the pair have a long history of collaboration including Fruitvale Station and Creed, and The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that they will team up once more.

Details on the new project are scarce, although THR writes that two sources have reportedly remarked that the feature will contain a "period element".

Coogler is due to write, direct and produce the unnamed movie, which is based on an original idea, while Jordan is lined up to star.

Coogler’s last feature, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, saw Jordan reprise his role as Erik 'Killmonger' Stevens in an Ancestral Plane sequence, with the actor subsequently revealing how he managed to keep his cameo appearance a secret.

"It's tough, I think this time around, because we lost our brother Chadwick – rest in peace to Chadwick Boseman – it was so much weight, to power through," he began.

"Ryan Coogler had such a tremendous task in front of him to evolve the script and the story in a way that still kind of honoured Chadwick but moved the franchise forward as well. So for me to be able to come back – and I really had to keep it under wraps, I had to grow my hair out.

"You know, I got the locks back in and stuff like that. And I'm travelling [to] a lot of places, so I've got to wear a hat, a hoodie, fly private, which isn't too bad of a thing. But being able to keep it under wraps was really a tough thing."

Jordan has since launched his own directorial career, with the star heading behind the camera for Creed III last year. Following the movie's critical and commercial success, it has been reported that he will return to direct the fourth entry in the franchise.
