In a new development, CCTV footage suggests that TV doctor Michael Mosley made it across the coastal path into the neighbouring town.

The surveillance footage shows Dr Mosley on the main road of Pedi at 13.50pm on Wednesday afternoon, approximately 20 minutes after he is believed to have embarked on a coastal hike. Until now, it was widely speculated that he may have fainted or fallen from a cliff during his walk.

The CCTV footage was shared by local site MEGA after being retrieved by police officers who have been meticulously searching the island of Symi, where the presenter was holidaying with his wife, Dr Clare Bailey.

A second image, exclusively shared with The Mirror, was captured on surveillance cameras outside the Blue Corner Cafe on Pedi Beach. It depicts Dr Mosley shielding himself from the sun with an umbrella as he walks past.

Greek authorities report they are conducting a significant search and rescue operation on Symi, the small eastern Aegean island. However, despite their best efforts, they have yet to locate the British doctor.

On Friday, the police announced that the coast guard, police and fire department were all involved in the search, deploying a helicopter, drones and a police sniffer dog. They have found no trace of the 67 year old who had been holidaying on the island.

The search focus remains between Agios Nikolaos - where Mosely presumably embarked on his walk from, and Symi - the main town on the island. Authorities have also speculated whether he may have left the island altogether, but discovered no evidence that anyone has travelled under his name.

The Foreign Office in Britain has disclosed its communication with Greek authorities over the ongoing search.

Mosley, familiar to many in the UK for his frequent appearances on TV, radio and his Daily Mail column, gained international recognition through his 2013 book "The Fast Diet," co-authored with journalist Mimi Spencer. His '5:2 diet' introduced a method for quick weight loss by cutting calorie intake drastically for two days of the week and maintaining a healthy diet for the remaining five.

Following this, he has launched the Fast 800 diet, directed at rapid weight loss, and has produced several films concerning diet and fitness.

Moseley has been known to push his physical boundaries to observe the impacts of his diets, once hosting tapeworms in his intestines for six weeks for the BBC documentary "Infested! Living With Parasites."

His disappearance has sparked a wave of concern among his friends and colleagues.

"This shocking news focusses our minds on Michael's wife Clare and their sons," expressed Roy Taylor, a professor of medicine and metabolism at Newcastle University who co-wrote "The 8-Week Blood Sugar Diet" alongside Mosley. "Our thoughts are with them in this terrible time of uncertainty, hoping that he will be found safely."

Back in 2002, Mosley earned an Emmy nomination for his role as executive producer on the BBC science documentary "The Human Face," hosted by Monty Python legend John Cleese. The programme boasted appearances from a host of celebrities including Elizabeth Hurley, Pierce Brosnan, and David Attenborough.

Mosley shares four children with his spouse Clare Bailey Mosley, who is a fellow doctor, author, and health columnist.
