How do you like your eggs in the morning?

If the answer is boiled, you'll probably want to hear about a simple technique a chef uses to get the job done. It's surprisingly easy and ensures your eggs have a gorgeously "jammy" texture every time.

Michelin-trained chef Poppy O'Toole revealed that it can be simpler to ditch pans of boiling water in favour of the air fryer instead. Not only can this help to keep everything at a stable temperature, it also allows you to set a timer with no hassle.

It's as easy as popping in an egg, selecting your desired timeframe and pushing a button to start the device. If you want a 'boiled' egg in the air fryer, Poppy recommends putting a room temperature egg in the air fryer "for 15 minutes at 130 degrees".

Those who like a more oozy centre should go with less time. To achieve that "jammy" texture, you'll want to stick to 10 minutes for the egg to be a little bit softer.

If you prefer poached eggs, don't sweat it. Poppy says she "loves" these but they can be tricky to get right if they break up in the pan and get messy.

To prevent this problem, drop in a splash of vinegar. It may sound gross, but you won't be able to taste it in small quantities and it can make all the difference in keeping your eggs together.

Poppy advised: "A tip for poached eggs is to use a little bit of white wine vinegar in the water and use a really fresh egg that is fridge-cold as well."

She knows what she's talking about – as Reddit 'Ask Culinary' forum adds: "The acid helps the whites set faster so they don't spread into the water".

Poppy O'Toole has partnered with McCain for the launch of its all-new range of air fryer fries, which is exclusively endorsed by Ninja, and comes in Deep Ridge Crinkle Cut and French Fries. The air fryer range is available now for £3.20 at Tesco, Asda, Iceland and more.
