If you're about to throw your Xbox controller out the window in a rage, calm down and breathe. You're not alone.

In fact, a variety of Microsoft platforms have been taken offline by a wave of outages impacting the tech giant throughout Tuesday (March 21).

All across the globe, people have been complaining about disruptions in service across Skype, Xbox, Outlook, the Windows Store and OneDrive - and they're not happy:

The good news is that Microsoft is aware of the issue and is hard at work on solutions, according to a statement posted on the Xbox Live US support page.

"Our engineers and developers are actively continuing to work to resolve the issue causing some members to have problems finding previously-purchased content or purchasing new content," Microsoft promised.

"Stay tuned, and thanks for your patience."

There have since been reports on social media that service was restored for some by Tuesday night, which came as a welcome relief to many frustrated users:

This is the second outage for Microsoft this month, after Xbox, Skype, Outlook and other Microsoft platforms experienced an hour-long service interruption on March 7.

During that outage, some Microsoft users were greeted with troubling messages informing them that their account "no longer exists". So, thank your lucky stars that you aren't experiencing that sort of meltdown today.

Digital Spy has reached out to Microsoft for more information on what caused this outage and how it's being resolved.
