When Middlesbrough will find out their next televised games as EFL make 'landmark commitment'

Middlesbrough will learn which games are moved for television up to the end of September within the next seven days, the EFL have confirmed.

Boro learned their full fixture list for the upcoming season on Wednesday morning, with the season-opener coming at home against Swansea City on Saturday, August 10 (12.30 pm kick-off). All Championship games on the opening weekend are being broadcast live by Sky Sports as part of the EFL's new broadcast deal.

The new deal means all Championship clubs will be shown at least 24 times over the course of the season, which includes the opening day, all midweek games, all Carabao Cup games and also bank holiday games such as Boxing Day, New Year's Day and Easter weekend.

Boro can expect more games to be moved over the course of the campaign, however, with five Championship games a weekend expected to be picked for TV. And as part of that deal, Sky Sports have previously committed to giving supporters more notice than ever before.

On the release of fixtures on Wednesday morning, which initially only include actual kick-off times for the opening weekend, the EFL said: "Within seven days of today’s EFL Fixture Release, all matches selected for broadcast for the period to the end of September will be announced.

"And before a ball is kicked of the 2024/25 season, all TV selections will be confirmed for the period up to the FA Cup third round in early January. This is a landmark commitment, providing fans and clubs up to five months’ notice, an increase from the five weeks' notice given across the majority of the 2023/24 season."

As well as the confirmation of when we will learn the next televised picks, Sky Sports and the EFL previously confirmed that all games up to the end of March would be decided and announced by the end of November. From April, the broadcast games will revert back to the old timeframe, but with Sky Sports aiming for at least eight weeks notice for supporters where possible.
