A Middlesbrough takeaway “offering great food at affordable prices” has been hit with a hygiene rating of two.

Parmo House, in North Ormesby, has been told that improvement is necessary after inspectors visited the site on May 8.

Food safety officers looked at three areas during the inspection - and while the hygienic food handling and management of food safety were found to be "generally satisfactory", the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and building were graded as "improvement necessary."

The cleanliness and condition of facilities and building see inspectors look at whether the site has an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities, and pest control in order to enable good food hygiene. The Beaumont Road eatery serves pizzas, parmesans, kebabs and meal deals.

The Middlesbrough takeaway’s website states: “Here at Parmo House, we are constantly striving to improve our service and quality in order to give our customers the very best experience.” The business, which is available through Just Eat, adds: “Parmo House in Middlesbrough will always be offering great food at affordable prices.”

A spokesman for Parmo House confirmed inspectors had returned since the rating and claimed "everything is fantastic" and that the score will be officially updated over the next few days.
