Mifflinburg woman who allegedly hit boyfriend, bit officer pleads guilty

Mar. 12—LEWISBURG — A Mifflinburg woman accused of hitting her boyfriend with a glass mug and then biting a police officer trying to arrest her pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor counts of simple assault and resisting arrest on Monday.

Nicole Ann Day, 42, of North Third Street, Mifflinburg, pleaded guilty in front of Union County Judge Michael Piecuch. A sentencing date is not yet scheduled.

Police were dispatched to a home on North Third Street at 3:18 a.m. Oct. 14 for a report of a domestic incident. The man had dried blood in his mouth, left ear and right temple; a small bruise on the bridge of his nose; and his left arm had a large bruise and multiple scratches, police said.

The man said that he and Day got into an argument because he had removed her rugs from inside the residence and placed them on the ground outside. Day became angry and allegedly struck him with a glass mug, police said.

The man called 911 and said he wanted Day out of the house, police said.

Martin and Patrolman David Shaffer attempted to take Day into custody. She was allegedly uncooperative and resisted arrest by moving her arms in such a way to prevent being handcuffed, police said.

Day allegedly continued to be uncooperative when being placed into the rear of the patrol vehicle. While being placed into the vehicle, Day allegedly bit Shaffer on his right arm, police said.

Day has been free on $10,000 cash bail since Oct. 14.
