The mighty M62, masts, no McDonalds and the 9 other magical things you notice on the 107-mile route
It's the 107 mile stretch of motorway that anyone who lives in Yorkshire will have driven on at some point. Or for many, very regularly.
The mighty M62 runs all the way from East Yorkshire to the west of the country via the Pennines.
And for anyone who does take this road regularly, there are certain novel things you always spot along the way.
Here we've pulled together a list of just some of those things. But we'd love to hear what you always notice on the M62 too.

1. The highest motorway in England sign
Quite cool to think you are driving 372m above sea level. Sometimes your ears pop going over this bit too.
2. The house in the middle of the motorway
Ah yes, the legendary Stott Hall Farm. There've been many rumours about why this place exists in this strange locations. Legend had it that the stubborn farmer refused to move to make way for the motorway. We've got the real reason here.
3. The random 40mph zones
.... Where there's no sign of any workmen, or any roadworks.
4. The red and white roses as you pass over the border
A comforting sign that you're back in God's Own County. Or a scary sign that you're leaving it.
5. Emley Moor Mast
The transmitting station on Emley Moor with its iconic 1,084ft tall tower can be spotted as you approach junction 23.
6. And another huge mast...
Standing tall on the border of Rochdale and Oldham, the Saddleworth mast has been part of the landscape for ages. It overlooks the highest point on the M62.
7. The lack of McDonalds
Sometimes a long journey is just crying out for a Big Mac meal. But on the long old M62 there is, quite shockingly, only one McDonalds restaurant which is at Goole.
8. At a specific time of year you see a famous little landmark
In winter, when the trees are bare, Round Hill at Rastrick can be spotted from the M62. Reports suggest the hill's remarkable contour has generated much speculation over the years as to whether it's a natural feature or human construction.
9. The Haribo factory
Kids and grown-ups love to see it. You always wonder to yourself whether it's actually like Willy Wonka's factory inside.
10. How eerily quiet it suddenly goes when you pass Goole
When you pass over the Ouse Bridge (with its never ending roadworks) there are suddenly very few cars on the road.
11. The magnificent piece of engineering that is Scammonden Bridge
Or locally known as the Brown Cow Bridge. Either way, this 120ft high structure between junctions 22 and 23 is some sight as you pass under it.
