Migrant teen stabbed in the back while being beaten by 23 people in Times Square suffered collapsed lung: court docs

A migrant teen who was stabbed in the back with a large knife in Times Square while being beaten by 23 people – some of them also migrant teenagers – suffered a collapsed and punctured lung in the fracas, court documents show.

Five teenagers and an adult have been arrested so far, with cops still searching for an additional 16 people as of Saturday.

The sole adult arrested, Michael Colome, 22, of Queens, was charged with gang assault, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

He was seen on video wearing a black mask and hitting the 17-year-old victim with a broom until it broke in half, cops said.

Colome was also allegedly in possession of the knife, but a 16-year-old was caught on camera thrusting the weapon at the victim.

At a Saturday morning arraignment in Manhattan Supreme Court, Colome’s attorney unsuccessfully argued for supervised release, noting the suspect works “from time to time at a pizzeria in Williamsburg,” lives with his grandmother and his parents are U.S. citizens.

Judge Felicia Mennin wasn’t impressed.

“His community ties do not appear to be as substantial to guarantee [his] return to court. He is charged with [a] serious offense which carries a significant amount of jail time if convicted. He is not regularly employed. He does not remember his uncle’s name who he claims is his employer,” she said.

Mennin granted prosecutor William Eddy’s request for $50,000 cash bail, which the defendant could not make, his lawyer said.

The 17-year-old from Nicaragua was attacked by the group at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and 42nd Street in the heart of the tourist attraction around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, cops said.

Despite the spate of migrant crime at “The Crossroads of the World,” Mayor Adams insisted there is no reason to fear Times Square.

“I was walking up there [in Times Square] the other day. You see the presence that’s there. It is safe,” he insisted at an event Saturday.
