I’m A Celebrity’s Mike Tindall has revealed he and wife Zara Phillips hit it off on their first date after discovering they “both quite like getting smashed”.
The rugby star has been married to Phillips – who is King Charles’ niece – since 2011 and they have three children together.
Tindall is now a contestant on the ITV jungle show and opened up to some of his fellow campers about how the pair got together, sharing that it was after he was dropped from a World Cup game in 2003.

“I was at the World Cup, she was out watching,” he said.
“I got dropped from the semi-final. I was p***** off and so I went for a beer with another guy who got dropped and a guy who was over (in Sydney). They had met her before and they introduced us and then got chatting.”
Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner remarked: “So if you never got dropped you never would have met her?”
“Best decision of Clive Woodward’s life,” Tindall said, referring to the coach and former rugby union player.
“Thank God he dropped you!” said Warner.
Tindall also spilled the beans about the first time he and Phillips went out.
“First actual date, just went out for lunch locally,” said the 44-year-old.
“And ended up being quite a boozy one. Then we figured out that we both quite like getting smashed.
"It was a good start.”
Tindall is on the reality show with the likes of pop icon Boy George, radio legend Chris Moyles and Loose Women star Charlene White.
Former health secretary Matt Hancock is also a contestant but will be a late entry so has not yet appeared on the show.
