Steakhouse giant, Miller and Carter, is gearing up to launch a new restaurant in the heart of York city centre - as work gets underway on Nunthorpe site.

The steak aficionados already boast branches across Yorkshire and are set to expand into an 1884 premises full of rich local history - the original Post Office, which closed back in April 2019.

Since then work has been underway to transform it into the latest culinary destination, and currently, hoardings surround the future Miller and Carter establishment. Teaser signage anticipates a "Summer 2024" arrival, reports Yorkshire Live.

The news comes as work starts on Teesside’s first Miller and Carter restaurant. Years have passed since Miller and Carter first announced its bid to open a new restaurant at the Grey Towers Farm estate in Nunthorpe , near the Poole roundabout and just off the A172.

Known for its cuts of steak and prime burgers, the popular eatery, run by national chain Mitchells and Butlers , previously submitted some fresh plans for lighting and landscaping at the site. In January, the first sign advertising the restaurant was erected at the estate, announcing 'exceptional is coming'.
