Mills & Reeves makes move to Paradise with partner promotions

UK law firm Mills & Reeve has relocated its Birmingham team and promoted four staff to the partnership.

The practice is now occupying 32,000 sq ft of space on the fourth and fifth floors of One Centenary Way which is the third office building to be completed on the £1.2 billion Paradise estate.

The move has brought to an end an 18-year stay at 78-84 Colmore Row where it grew from a team of just five staff to 300, including 170 solicitors.

It joins a raft of other tenants already calling the building home including engineering consultancy Arup, property agency JLL and investment bank Goldman Sachs.

Mills & Reeve has also promoted a quartet of new partners.

James Thompson will support the growth of the insurance disputes team, with a particular focus on brokers and intermediaries, while Kate Watkins is a specialist employment lawyer, advising commercial clients on a wide range of HR issues.

She will focus on growth in the Birmingham commercial employment team as well as retail and life sciences work.

Paul Krivosic is a corporate lawyer advising both private and public companies on all aspects of corporate law, focusing on independent healthcare, and Adam Williams is part of the private client team.

He will continue to develop and expand the philanthropy offering and grow the private client and charity practice.

There are also four newly qualified trainee solicitors at the practice - Neamh Towers (banking and finance), Ella Moss (commercial disputes), Katie Jones (contentious private client) and Carla Harris (non-contentious private client).

Jayne Hussey, partner and head of the Birmingham office, said: "Our office move, partner promotions and our new qualifiers all represent a new era for our Birmingham office where we're committed to supporting businesses in the region and having a positive impact on our local community."

Ross Fittall, commercial development director with Paradise's asset manager MEPC, added: "Welcoming Mills & Reeve to One Centenary Way is another major milestone for Paradise and reflects the aspirations of leading firms to have the very best workspace to meet the needs of their people and clients and to support their ambitious growth plans for the future."
