Mindy Kaling Shares Sweet Birthday Surprise from Her Kids After Revealing She Quietly Welcomed Baby No. 3

The actress announced on Instagram Monday that she welcomed her third baby, daughter Anne, earlier this year

Mindy Kaling is showing the special surprise her kids had in store for her on her birthday.

On Monday, June 24, the actress, 45, shared a video on her Instagram Stories of her dining room, which had been decorated by Kaling's older kids Katherine "Kit," 6, and Spencer, 3, for her birthday. In the sunlit windows, signs that read "We ❤️ Mommy" hung loosely and were propped near a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a box of Dunkin' Donuts munchkins.

“Oh my gosh, I love these! Look at these beautiful flowers. Are these from the farmer’s market?” Kaling asks her kids. "Yeah," one of them responds off camera.

As she shows more of the set-up, one of her kids can be heard asking for Kaling to open her other gifts.

“Mommy, now can we open it? I want to see," they say. “You want to open my card?” Kaling asks, showing a pair of little hands holding a birthday card for the comedian.

Earlier that day, Kaling announced that she'd quietly welcomed her third baby, daughter Anne, earlier this year. Sharing an adorable photo of her baby daughter Anne with Kit and Spencer, the actress took a moment to reflect on growing her family in her caption. She also shared a photo that featured her baby bump as well as a snap of her in a hospital bed alongside her older two kids.

"In late February I gave birth to my daughter, Anne. She’s the best birthday present I could’ve ever imagined," Kaling began her caption.

"When things are hard, whenever I veer towards cynicism, my three kids are such a great reminder of the pure joy in my life. I’m so lucky I live in a place where I could do this by myself, on my own timeline. Thanks for all the birthday wishes!"

Since the surprise announcement of her first pregnancy in 2017, Kaling, who has never revealed the identity of the father of her children, has kept her kids' faces off social media.

"I feel like I might as well wait until they get old enough so they can tell me if they want to be part of my social media or not," Kaling previously told PEOPLE.

But it's not always that easy to stick to her boundaries. "I'm like any parent where I'm proud of the things they do," she explained. "I think they're so cute, and of course, I want other people to see it."
