Mini Backstreet Boys (and Girls)! Meet the Kids of the Backstreet Boys
The boys of the band are all grown up — and raising supercute kids, too!
The Backstreet Boys are now men — and dads to some pretty cute kids.
All five members of the ever-popular boy band — Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, Kevin Richardson, AJ McLean and Howie Dorough — have become dads through the years, sharing family highlights on Instagram and even bringing their kids out on stage for some shows, giving fans glimpses as their "Backstreet Babies," as the singers have dubbed them.
“We have a family room backstage for the family and the wives and the kids to hang out in,” Richardson told PEOPLE in 2018 of the group's tour setup. “It used to be the VIP room, stocked with alcohol for our friends and different people that come to see the show, but now it’s the family room.”
“It’s the VIB room, Very Important Baby,” joked Carter. “It’ll be daddy daycare.”
Here, get to know the kids of the Backstreet Boys.
Brian Littrell's Son: Baylee
Brian Littrell's son Baylee is now 21 years old, and hard at work on his own music career.
"I got to introduce my dad at 5 years old," Baylee told PEOPLE in 2023. "And then when I was 10, I started opening up for them. I would sing two or three songs before the opener would come out and play their set. And then that transcended into 2019, being able to go on a 42-show run with them and be the official opening act. That was the experience of a lifetime."
"I've pretty much grown up on the road since I can remember. So my first crib was a bunk on a tour bus," he added. "So really, my first memories are being out on the road and being abroad."
Mom is Littrell's wife of 24 years, Leighanne.
Nick Carter's Kids: Odin, Saoirse and Pearl
The youngest member of Backstreet Boys, Nick Carter also has the youngest kids: daughters Pearl, 3, and Saoirse Reign, 4, plus son Odin Reign, 8.
"You're learning on the job, you're figuring it all out. I love the challenge. I think it's great," Carter said on a 2022 episode of the Parents podcast "We Are Family." "It's a challenge and by the end of the day, I'm exhausted and I'm going to sleep and waking up early. I absolutely love it."
Of letting his kids follow in his famous footsteps, he added, "I want them to be able to be kids first and really enjoy that part of their lives. And then once you turn 18, if you want to do what you want to do, you can."
Mom is Carter's wife of 10 years, Lauren.
AJ McLean's Kids: Elliott and Lyric
“There’s nothing like a relationship between a daughter and a father,” AJ McLean told PEOPLE of his daughters Elliott, 11, and Lyric, 7, whom he shares with his estranged wife, Rochelle. “They both have me wrapped around their finger.”
"Whatever journey both my girls have, I will be in their corner a million percent, [Rochelle] will be in their corner and support them, whatever their path is and whatever their journey is," he added in 2022. "That's just the family that we are."
Howie Dorough's Kids: James and Holden
Howie Dorough and wife Leigh share sons James, 14, and Holden, 11.
"I have taught my kids a couple of 'Backstreet's Back' moves," Howie Dorough admitted in a 2019 interview with Parents. "They don't get it exactly as good as Daddy but they're working on it."
But his larger-than-life career has been tempered in the best way by his kids, too. "When you've been an entertainer for so many years, it's easy to get lost in the lifestyle," he added. "Kids really teach you to be selfless. It's not on your schedule anymore it's their schedule, and you've gotta roll with the punches."
Kevin Richardson's Kids: Mason and Maxwell
Kevin Richardson regularly posts photos of his family of four's adventures, with recent highlights including the 2024 Super Bowl and a trip to Alaska. He and wife Kristin share sons Mason, 16, and Maxwell, 10.
“I’ve always wanted to be a dad,” he told PEOPLE in 2018. “I couldn’t wait to be a dad. I just think it’s making me see things and rediscover things again with fresh eyes, you know, seeing it through their eyes, traveling around the world, taking them places, seeing them see things for the first time helps me experience it again for the first time.”
