Missing Cannon Hill Park boys found safe after massive police search

Two young boys who vanished in one of Birmingham's most popular parks have been found safe and well after a massive police search. The West Midlands force raised the alarm earlier this afternoon after the pair, named only as ten-year-old Bilal and 12-year-old Abu, vanished in Cannon Hill Park.

In clearly-concerned tones, officers appealed on social media for help from anyone who may have seen them as thousands as families soaked up the sun. The force posted on X: "Have you seen Abu and Bilal? The 12 and ten-year-olds were last seen earlier today in Cannon Hill Park and we're concerned for their safety.

"We have a number of resources in the area at the moment searching for them, and we're asking anyone who sees them or thinks they saw them to call 999 immediately quoting log number 2218 of May 19."

But several hours later a post on the same platform carried good news. It said: "Missing ten-year-old Bilal and 12-year-old Abu have just been found safe and well. Thank you so much for your concern and for sharing our appeal."

It was not known where they were found or how they had initially vanished.
