Family and friends of missing Jay Slater have branded online trolls 'sick' amid the 'absolutely soul destroying' search for him. The huge search for the 19-year-old has entered its sixth day in Tenerife.

Authorities are still desperately looking for the apprentice bricklayer Jay, last seen walking alone on the morning of Monday, June 17. Loved ones, including his mum Debbie Duncan, have flown out to the Spanish island to help with search efforts.

But they have slammed 'trolls' who they say have 'hacked' into the accounts of Jay's family and friends. It comes after the family told how a mystery person had logged into Jay's Instagram account.

On a Facebook page where updates on the search have been shared, admin Rach Louise Harg told how Debbie has been left 'absolutely broken'. She described the search for Jay as 'soul-destroying' and said how watching relatives break down has been 'torture'.

The post read: "Right I can’t believe some people are actually this sick in the head there are people hacking my accounts and Jay's family’s making it pure lies and pretending we are all in it. Jay's missing and it’s absolutely soul-destroying that we can’t find [him], his mum is absolutely broken, it’s cruel."

She described the search as 'hard work', blaming the 'language barrier' and telling how the family has an interpreter with them. The post continued: "Honestly the police here are checking CCTV and looking into leads that have been given in to them as we speak."

Loved ones insisted that 'no one is lying', adding 'if you all knew how hard it was, you would not be questioning it'. A GoFundMe page launched in the wake of Jay's disappearance is supporting family in Tenerife while the search continues, the post read.

The post, put online on Friday (June 21) continued: "All the groups are full of trolls and sickos, Jay's mum's getting a call every second. Jay is 5 days missing we don’t know if he’s alone or dead, stop honestly, if anyone thinks we are all in on it then take me off, comment here and I’ll remove you myself. Jay we will find you."
