Mission: Impossible 7 is said to have been hit by yet another delay after a motorbike stunt went dangerously wrong.

The vehicle was supposed to safely land on a platform of pillows filled with cardboard after a particular sequence.

However, due to the heat and the friction of the tyres, it caught alight, which reportedly forced the stuntman to jump clear.

According to The Sun, Tom Cruise – the film’s lead star and producer – was working on another stunt elsewhere.

Set photos show black smoke around the area where the stunt took place. Reports say that Oxfordshire Fire Service put the fire out and that nobody was injured.

The costly stunt is thought to have been six weeks in the making, with a source admitting: “Unfortunately, it was miscalculated.”

However, crew members are facing obstruction from local citizens despite Deputy Culture Minister Pawel Lewandowsk claiming that the bridge has no cultural value.

Production on Mission: Impossible 7, which will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is set to resume in the UK in September, before heading to Poland in April.

The film will be released in November 2022.
