Mississippi Family 'Traumatized' by Shocking Carjacking in Their Own Front Yard

Police in Jackson, Mississippi, have identified two suspects relating to a shocking May 24 carjacking during which a family was shot at in their own front yard.

Video captured on the CCTV of resident Heather Allen shows two men approach her front yard.

One of the men opens fire as Allen and her son are standing outside. Allen told Storyful her other son, daughter, and two grandchildren were seated inside the car next to them. The video then shows Allen’s family coming out of the car as the suspects try to take it. Her daughter is heard shouting, “My babies! My babies!”

Speaking to local media, Allen said one of the men kept yelling for keys to the car. When they couldn’t figure out how to take the first car, Allen throws them keys to another car. The suspects left the scene in the second car, Allen said.

The Jackson Police Department recovered the car about two blocks away and only 40 minutes after the incident took place.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade confirmed investigators had identified two persons of interest in relation to the carjacking.

“I had an opportunity to look at the video of Ms. Allen and her family being robbed and carjacked in their driveway,” Wade said. “It was extremely disturbing to me. It was very concerning to me because a threat to them and their family is a threat to everyone.”

A GoFundMe crowdfunding campaign has since been organized to help the family after the incident.

“We are very traumatized from all of this," Allen told Storyful. Credit: Heather Allen via Storyful
