Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo must be more like former team-mate and Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister, according to former Blues midfielder Emmanuel Petit.

Mac Allister has been in fine form for the Reds this season and has been pivotal to Jurgen Klopp's side challenging for a possible treble in his debut season. He has made 38 appearances across all competitions and has 13 goal contributions.

While the Argentine has been getting all the plaudits, Caicedo has had a difficult season since his £115million move from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer. Such expectation has been put on his shoulders after the British record move, but he has taken a while to settle into his new surroundings which have often led to mistakes on the pitch.

Speaking to Genting Casino, Petit believes he will get there despite believing there are no experienced players at Stamford Bridge that can guide him through his difficulties. He said: "Moises Caicedo makes so many silly mistakes. You can tell he’s a great player and you look at the likes of Mac Allister at Liverpool, he struggled in the first few months but now he’s putting in masterclasses in the midfield..

"You can see with Mac Allister, his confidence and the way he plays you can see that the manager knows what he wants, it’s becoming more simple for him. He’s controlling the midfield like he did at Brighton.

"It’s the same kind of thing with Caicedo. I do believe he will get there, he just needs an experienced player to put his arm around him and guide him - it’s a shame there are none at Chelsea!"
