The moment missing Edinburgh schoolboy reunites with grandad as Tartan Army burst into song

A lost youngster from Edinburgh was reunited with his grandad in Cologne's fan zone after he was missing for two hours.

10-year-old Tommy Rendall went missing in amongst the huge crowd as football fans descended on Cologne for the Scotland V Switzerland match on Wednesday.

Tommy's grandad George Thomson, 60, frantically searched for him and the Tartan Army celebrated as the lad was held up into the air near the stage.

As the Record reports, the crowd was told to 'shut up' when the DJ stopped the tunes to alert them that a child was missing. They sprung into action and began looking for little Tommy.

Soon enough the music was stopped again and the little boy was held up into the air near the stage.

In Tartan Army fashion, everyone in the fan zone began cheering 'No Tommy. No party", as he was handed back to his grandad George Thomson, 60, from Edinburgh.

After being reunited and posing up for a picture with the Record, George said: "He's been missing for two hours. I've been searching everywhere for him. I've been out and back several times. We were really worried."

Tommy said: "I was just over at that side of the fan zone, I didn't know they were looking for me."

The pre-match party got into full swing after Germany beat Hungary 2-0 in the earlier game and after a tense match, Scotland walked away with a 1-1 draw to Switzerland.

Some locals piled out of the 7,500 capacity venue while others partied with the Scots to songs such as Yes Sir I Can Boogie and 500 Miles.
